Location and getting around

Suomenlinna is located just a 15-minute boat ride from the centre of Helsinki. The Helsinki City Transport ferry operates to the fortress throughout the year, regardless of the weather. During the summer (from May to September) the fortress can also be reached by water bus.You can move around Suomenlinna on foot, but as the roads are often cobblestoned, wearing comfortable shoes is recommended. Our conference and banquet facilities are located on Iso-Mustasaari (island C) and Susisaari (island B) islands. Some of the facilities are located approximately 1 kilometre from the main pier, but some are much closer than that. It is a good idea to provide event participants with maps of the area showing locations and to advise them to be prepared for walking.

Maintenance vehicles are allowed to drive around Suomenlinna, so event or conference organisers are permitted to bring a car to the island for transporting goods or people with mobility difficulties. Car transportation for the ferry should be booked well in advance.
