Event calendar
Many high-quality events take place in Suomenlinna every year.
In the middle of the summer, historical costumes can be admired in the Les Lumières festival, and the open-air theatre offers unforgettable experiences. In August, the Viapori Jazz festival is organised in the fortress.
Battle scenes from the historical military camp are recreated in September. In October, it is time for Väkevä Viapori, the residents’ festival. The highlight of the winter season is the Arts & Crafts weekend, organised in the spirit of Christmas.

Bubbling Under, the Underwater Cultural Heritage at Suomenlinna
Under the surface the traces of human activity lie hidden from our view. What secrets can be found in the waters surrounding Suomenlinna – a UNESCO World Heritage site? In this exhibition the islands’ underwater cultural heritage can be seen for the first time in fantastic photographs and three-dimensional models. Follow in the footsteps of the Water Spirit and find out about the multi-layered history in the underwater landscape.
