Many high-quality events take place in Suomenlinna every year.

In the middle of the summer, historical costumes can be admired in the Les Lumières festival, and the open-air theatre offers unforgettable experiences. In August, the Viapori Jazz festival is organised in the fortress.

Battle scenes from the historical military camp are recreated in September. In October, it is time for Väkevä Viapori, the residents’ festival. The highlight of the winter season is the Arts & Crafts weekend, organised in the spirit of Christmas.

Guided walking tours

Description	The tour explains why the grand fortress was originally built and takes visitors to the main attractions of the island: the Great Courtyard and the dry dock – once the largest of its kind in the world. Guided walking tours in English 1.9.2011 - 31.5.2012 on Saturdays and Sundays at 1.30 pm (except 24. - 25.12.) Guided walking tours in Russian 1.10. - 18.12.2011 ja 3.3. - 31.5.2012 on Saturdays and Sundays at 11.15 am. 26.12.2011 - 9.1.2012 daily (except 1.1.2012) at 10.30 am. Departures The tours commence at the Visitor Centre, where you can also purchase tickets for the tour. Tickets for the tours cannot be reserved in advance. The guided walking tours take approximately one hour.
