Event calendar
Many high-quality events take place in Suomenlinna every year.
In the middle of the summer, historical costumes can be admired in the Les Lumières festival, and the open-air theatre offers unforgettable experiences. In August, the Viapori Jazz festival is organised in the fortress.
Battle scenes from the historical military camp are recreated in September. In October, it is time for Väkevä Viapori, the residents’ festival. The highlight of the winter season is the Arts & Crafts weekend, organised in the spirit of Christmas.

The tour explains why the grand fortress was originally built and takes
visitors to the main attractions of the island: the Great Courtyard and
the dry dock – once the largest of its kind in the world.
