Picnic shed

Visitors may enjoy their sandwiches and packed lunches in the yellow picnic shed, dating from the period of the Russian rule. The shed is located next to the beach, along the main route on the Kustaanmiekka isle. The area is approximately 1 kilometre from the main pier.picnic shed

As the picnic shed is located close to the beach, it can be used as a changing room as well. There is no heating in the building, which is open every day from 9 am to 7 pm from the beginning of May until mid-October.

The room cannot be booked for groups as it is open to everybody. People using the shed should take this into consideration and give others enough time and space to enjoy their lunch as well.

How to get there

The Helsinki City Transport ferry operates to the main pier throughout the year, and from there the picnic shed is about 1 kilometre away. The waterbus operates to the Visitor Centre and the King’s Gate pier from May to September. The picnic shed is 500 metres from both piers.

Accessibility

During the summer season, the picnic shed is accessible with a wheelchair when assistance is provided. There is a steep ramp at the entrance. The nearest accessible toilet is at bastion Virtue, next to the Hytti glass studio.

Open daily 2.5.-30.9.
