Customs Museum
The museum has an exhibition on the history of the Finnish customs agency (‘Tulli’ in Finnish) as well as an annually changing theme exhibition. The permanent exhibition tells the story of old and new smuggling methods and presents information on the operation of today’s Customs agency.
The museum is located on Susisaari island in Suomenlinna, in the Hamilton-Polhem Curtain. The curtain building was built in the 1770s and has operated as the fortress’s garrison and prison.
The building was renovated as a working space in the 1990s and now hosts the Art School Maa in addition to the Customs Museum.
The museum is only open during the summer season.
