A guided tour provides a wealth of information on the history of the fortress. The tours are lead by Ehrensvärd Society guides who know all about the island and its fascinating history.

Guided tours cover the eventful history of the fortress and its main sights, including the Great Courtyard and the dry dock, which at the time of its completion was the biggest in the world. The hour-long walking tours commence at the Visitor Centre, where you can also purchase a ticket for the tour.

• During summer (June 1 to August 31) guided tours begin daily at the following times: 11 am (in English), 12 noon (in Swedish), 1 pm (in Finnish), 2 pm (in English) and 3 pm (in Finnish – the Viapori cannons and tunnels themed tour).
• In winter (September 1 to May 31) guided tours in English take place during weekends only. The tours begin at 1:30 pm on Saturdays and Sundays.
